PCOS: I NEED HELP!!!
Share
PCOS is a condition where cysts are found on the ovaries. They start off with no symptoms. As a woman experiences perimenopause, PCOS can become complicated. This is what happened to me.
I started my perimenopause journey at age 38. My hormones went into overdrive. Trust me: I was struggling. Lol As the years went by, I noticed that my cycles became much lighter. The cramps became more intense. Then, when my cycles lasted 3 weeks and came with huge blood clots, I knew something was wrong.
So, I went to see my obgyn and had gotten some bloodwork done and an ovarian ultrasound. There you have it. I have PCOS. My symptoms got so bad that I even considered a hysterectomy. I got so sick, passing blood clots like crazy, cramping like ever before. It was scary as heck. I lost so many vitamins that I became very lethargic and weak.
I felt alone in this. I had never heard of PCOS, much less did I have a good support system. So, I started doing research, talking to other women who had it & educated myself. My obgyn put me on birth control. I must say that the bleeding, cramping and symptoms stopped. All of it.
My journey with PCOS is just in the beginning. The importance of education & working with your specialists and obgyn is key to keeping it under control. Health and diet also play a vital role in this process. I refused to let this be a major part of my life.....and neither should you. You can get through this.
